Paul Roh

Chief Executive Officer | RISE Physical Therapy

Paul’s interest in physical therapy grew from his own injuries growing up. He has always had a passion to help others and a fascination with the human  body and how it works. Paul finds himself at home when treating his patients and enjoys helping them reach their maximum performance levels. In his free time, Paul enjoys playing basketball and managing a non-profit youth sports organization.

Alex Kelso

PT, DPT, FMR, CAFS, FAFS | Senior Executive Officer

Alex has been a part of the RISE Physical Therapy team since mid-2014, and has grown with RISE into his current role as Senior Executive Officer. Alex fell in love with RISE’s unique 1-on-1 approach, both as a patient and as a clinician. Now, Alex works to provide this 1-on-1 treatment model to other clinicians through the management of RISE’s growing operations, staff, and projects. He holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Southern California, a degree in Health and Human Performance from the University of Florida (Go Gators!), and is an Applied Functional Science fellow. He enjoys his free time with his wife, Janelle, and their Goldendoodle, Jackson.

David Bailey

David first became interested in physical therapy when introduced to Applied Functional Science in 2006. At the time he was practicing Tai Chi, Kung Fu and Qigong, and was working on his Bachelors degree in Kinesiology at SDSU. David received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from University of St. Augustine in 2010, and completed his fellowship in Applied Functional Science in 2012. David enjoys hanging out with family and friends, reading, hiking and can be found exploring the various coffee shops around the county.

Amanda Davenport

Amanda grew up in Roseville, California until she attended the University of Oregon (Go Ducks!) to continue pursuing her passions by minoring in dance while studying human physiology. After college, she worked as a Registered Yoga Teacher before moving to San Diego to complete her DPT degree. Alongside helping patients remain active while experiencing less pain, she loves to travel, hike, and do yoga.

Amy Lack

MOT, OTR/L  Email Amy

Amy is a San Diego native. She received her Master of Occupational Therapy degree from the University of Saint Augustine for Health Sciences. Amy has experience working with complex orthopedic cases of the hands, wrists, and elbows, as well as repetitive/cumulative trauma to the upper limbs. She enjoys working with individuals so they can participate more fully in their chosen daily activities. You can find Amy cruising on her bike on the beaches of La Jolla, Pacific Beach, Mission Bay, Sunset Cliffs, or Lake Murray.

Annette Paulson

Annette is a California native, born and raised in the South Bay. She received a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology from the University of La Verne and Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Chapman University. Annette has a background in outpatient orthopedics, acute care, and pelvic floor physical therapy. In her free time, she enjoys film photography, yoga, and any activity to get her outdoors.

Ashley Brunswick

Ashley grew up in Beaverton, Oregon where she earned her undergraduate degree at Portland State University. She just recently completed her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Hawaii Pacific University. She recently moved to San Diego, and is eager to explore new hobbies beyond studying. She loves her PNW activities like hiking, visiting breweries, and food carts, and watching the sunset, but during the week she spends most of her free time at the gym.

Austin Shutler

Austin Shutler, licensed doctor of physical therapy, movement specialist, and yoga instructor living in San Diego California, incorporates a holistic approach to support you on your health and wellness journey. Austin utilizes personal rehab and wellness experience, with an extensive background in athletics, to optimize recovery, prevent injury, and enhance functional performance. He enjoys surfing, yoga, weight training, and outdoor adventures.

Autumn Siverling

Autumn was born and raised in Sacramento, CA. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology at San Diego State University and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Touro University Nevada. Autumn is passionate about helping patients return to their lifestyle pain-free and without restriction. In her free time, Autumn enjoys staying active, attending trivia events, watching TV shows/movies, and traveling.

Betty Tran

Betty graduated from the University of California San Diego with a degree in Physiology and Neuroscience. She obtained her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of California San Francisco. She has experience treating individuals from various backgrounds, but enjoys working with the orthopedic population the most. In her spare time she enjoys playing volleyball and basketball and spending time with her dog.

Carinna Prince

Carinna grew up locally and participated in a variety of water sports. She attended Azusa Pacific University where she was recruited to play water polo and earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. She received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. She is passionate about adaptive sports and treating vestibular and orthopedic patients. She continues her water polo career by coaching at a local high school.  When not in the office or on the pool deck, she enjoys hiking, stand-up paddle boarding, and playing board games with her family and friends.

Casey Cole

Casey grew up in Coalinga, CA and is new to San Diego. He attended West Hills Coalinga community college where he played football and, from there, transferred to California Lutheran University to continue playing football and receive his B.S. in exercise science. Casey’s experiences in and out of the training room with injuries grew his interest in PT. He completed his doctorate at Hawaii Pacific University in 2024. Some of Casey’s hobbies include working out, watching sports (specifically football), golfing, going to the beach, and trying new foods.

Ciara Hoernke

Ciara grew up in Fairfax, Virginia, and completed her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Virginia Commonwealth University. As a former level 10 gymnast and gymnastics coach, she was exposed to many injuries, which ultimately lead to her interest in physical therapy. Ciara has a passion for movement, athletics, and providing people with tools for improving their overall wellness. In her free time, she enjoys being active, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Dana Hazlett

Dana Hazlett hails from San Jose, CA. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Health Sciences from Point Loma Nazarene University and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in San Marcos, CA. His professional interests include chronic pain, spine, and sports rehab. His passion is helping people live pain free lives. In his free time, Dana enjoys volleyball, strength training, and yoga.

Diego Schoch

A SoCal native, Diego earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in 2021. Before becoming a physical therapist, Diego had an extensive career as a professional dancer, choreographer, and college professor. Integrating his studies in biomechanics and functional movement with his background in dance, classical Pilates, and Iyengar Yoga, Diego emphasizes a whole-body approach to healing and learning how to move with greater ease and body awareness, no matter your pursuits or background.  Diego is well versed in the needs of dancers and is a member of the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS) and committed to staying up to date with current thoughts in dance medicine and helping student and professional dancers dance longer and more confidently. He enjoys streaming movies and shows, hanging out at local coffee shops and breweries, and staying fit with various activities including surfing, climbing, hiking, weightlifting, and dancing.

Emily Morley

Emily grew up in Northern NY on the US-Canada border where she learned a love of the outdoors and physical activity at a young age. She got her B.A. in History from SUNY Potsdam and shortly after moved out west. It was there she found a love for physical therapy, and she became a PTA working in an outpatient setting with a very active population. Eventually, she decided to return to school to progress her career and received her doctorate from South College. Emily believes in treating the whole person to help them return to their favorite activities and to restore confidence in themselves. When not in clinic she has a variety of interests that she pursues such as cooking, playing sports, hiking, gardening, and reading.

Jake Hodgens

Jake attended San Diego State University for undergrad, and received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine. While Jake enjoys all sports, he is particularly drawn to water sports and the beach. Much of his time during undergrad and PT school was spent coaching water polo, even coaching his school to a CIF championship. Unfortunately, he witnessed a variety of injuries which has lead to his desire to help injured athletes and drove Jake to pursue physical therapy.

Joe Couche

Joe graduated from the University of Buffalo and started his physical therapy career in Boston, MA, before moving to California. His clinical interests include management of shoulder injuries, tendinopathies, resistance training in older adults, and pain science. He is an advocate for patients’ active role in their health and recovery. In his free time, he enjoys rock climbing, lifting weights, and spending time with friends.

Julie Walker

Julie grew up in Toledo Ohio and played collegiate Field Hockey while earning her undergraduate degree and doctorate of Physical Therapy from Boston University.  Upon graduation she completed the Johns Hopkins and University of Delaware Neurological Physical Therapy Residency Program.  Julie has a passion for working with individuals with a broad range of neurological diagnoses and prioritizes the patients’ goals, striving to promote function while helping individuals regain independence and mobility.  When not at work, Julie enjoys all forms of exercise including lifting, running, hiking and chasing around her two young children.

Kevin Bender

Kevin grew up on Long Island, NY and graduated from the University of St. Augustine in Florida in 2012. Over his ten years of practicing, Kevin has become passionate in both manual therapy and teaching and utilizes the above to help return his patients to their optimal function. He has lived in many different places over the years including recently moving from Maui. In his spare time, Kevin enjoys playing music, running, hiking, and exploring the San Diego area.

Luke Mathison

Luke grew up in Minnesota and, as a lifelong athlete playing hockey and collegiate soccer, he understands the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle as well as the pitfalls associated with injury recovery. Earning his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from The University of Illinois at Chicago, he enjoys working with athletes of all ages and abilities (amateur to professional) to help them achieve their performance goals. Now living in Cardiff, Luke enjoys weight training, skiing, surfing, and spending time with his family.

Mark Tameta

Mark was born and raised in the Bay Area but is now a resident of sunny San Diego. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Irvine and went on to obtain his Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of St. Augustine in San Marcos. Mark hopes to be an instrument of hope and change for the patients in his community. In his free time, he likes to get outdoors, watch movies/tv shows and spend time with friends and family.

Matthew Reichard

My name is Matt, I have been practicing Physical Therapy since 2018 with a focus on body mechanics and proprioceptive awareness. I have a background in Kinesiology from Penn State that I utilize to help clients return to functional and appropriate movement strategies to help reach their goals while feeling more confident and comfortable in their bodies. I have experience working in Outpatient Orthopedics and Sports mainly, while also having spent time in hospital, neurological and pediatric settings as well which I like to incorporate in my training for a well rounded approach to helping improve human movement. I play basketball, volleyball, golf, lift weights and run while also spending time hiking, enjoying the beach and exploring the city of San Diego and all the things it has to offer so I understand and value the freedom of movement and enjoy helping others achieve this same feeling!

Mia Mae Manalastas

Mia Mae was born on the beautiful island of Guam, and then moved to San Diego, California, in 2007. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis on Pre-Physical Therapy from San Diego State University in 2015, followed by a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in 2021. Mia Mae has worked with a range of MSK/Ortho patients, including those recovering from total knee and hip replacements, rotator cuff repairs, MPFL repairs, low back and neck pain, and ACL surgeries. She also has some experience addressing neuro-related conditions, such as Parkinson’s disease and low complexity stroke rehabilitation. Outside of her professional pursuits, Mia Mae is passionate about sports, particularly grass and beach volleyball. She is also currently training to achieve the triple-crown medal for running races throughout San Diego next year.

Natasha Shamloufard

Nick Eckman

SarahMargaret Mason

SarahMargaret is a native of South Carolina where she participated in a variety of sports growing up. Her interests included competitive swimming, volleyball, basketball, running, and horseback riding. The moving human body and the ability to optimize movement after injury has always fascinated her, especially after sustaining several significant injuries of her own. SarahMargaret received her undergraduate degree from the College of Charleston and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine San Marcos. When she is not in the clinic, she enjoys hiking, going to the beach, spending time with her husband Michael, walking her beagle Lucy, and Carolina Panthers football.

Tim Pollard

He enjoys educating patients on how bodies move and operate and how daily habits can dictate future wellbeing. In his free time, Tim loves spending time with his wife and two young sons. He also enjoys weight lifting, following the Chargers, and going to the beach. His professional interests include preventative therapy and sports rehabilitation.
